Where my money actually goes

Hi Reader*,

I recommend a lot of tools I love, in hopes that you find something that makes work a little easier for you, too. Today I'm sharing a few places where money actually goes, starting with a cost that went up whether I liked it or not. Spoiler: I did NOT, in fact, like it.

๐Ÿ‘‰ FIRST, AN UNEXPECTED PRICE HIKE

Squarespace raised prices again, and some plans jumped as much as 26%. They've walked part of it back after the announcement, but it's still painful. Here's a video on how I'm handling it and whether you should downgrade, or tell your clients to.

That one is hard to take, but there are a few places I'm happily spending money in my business:

๐Ÿ‘‰ THE ONE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR: EVENTUALLY

I just got back from NYC, where I helped celebrate the launch of Eventually at Squarespace HQ. If you've ever wrestled with Squarespace's built-in events, you already know why I'm excited. (Eventually is the events tool I've wanted since 2018.) My favorite part? It's free for free events. You only pay when you're selling tickets.

Kelsey and I are going live this Thursday to talk about where Squarespace events fall short and how Eventually is coming to the rescue. Bring your questions and come hang out. โ€ข Check out Eventually here.โ€‹

๐Ÿ‘‰ THE $99 ONE: WHY I'M A LEGEND

Did you know I'm a legend? And you can be, too. That's what Lex Roman calls the folks who back Revenue Rulebreaker, their newsletter about how solopreneurs actually make money.

Being a Legend gets you into a network of 350+ creative business owners. Lex hosts mixers and matches people up by hand, gives members shoutouts and free ads in the newsletter, and runs quarterly calls where you see exactly where the money goes. This is my favorite online network, and it's $99/year.

But getting the newsletter is free, and Lex's latest issue, Generating a living wage is hard enough, is a good taste of the writing. If you like it, sign up here to get them all, then consider becoming a Legend to unlock all the benefits.

๐Ÿ‘‰ THE ONE ON A DEADLINE: TEACHERY

Thinking about offering a course someday? Maybe even a short, free one for your clients to host walkthrough videos. If that's you, Teachery's lifetime deal goes away August 15, but you can lock in the pricing now, even if you don't build anything until next year. Or 2 years from now. It's the platform I'm moving to, and you can learn more here.
