Squarespace and Studio Updates

Hi Reader,

You're getting this email because you grabbed my Squarespace Prelaunch Checklist, another one of my freebies, or perhaps because someone in Kit's Creator Network recommended my emails. Wherever you found me, I'm glad you're here. My emails are all written by me, not robots. πŸš«πŸ€– Disclosure: This email contains affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, I'll be compensated at no cost to you.

August came as something of a shock to me, and there's a lot happening in the Squarespace and web design world right now, so let's dive in.

πŸ‘‰ WHAT'S NEW WITH ME

  • I mentioned last month that I've moved my newsletter back to Kit. Still working on fine tuning things, so if you see anything weird on your end, feel free to let me know! And a few of you have told me that the emails I'm sending are missing your name above after "Hi" and you'd like them to. Click here to update your profile and fix that. We're on a first-name basis, right?
  • I'm still working on the Two Day Website System for web designers. My goal is still to have this launched before mid-September. I'm considering launching to the waitlist
  • I was in NYC a couple of weeks ago and recorded at Kit Studios, for free. This is one of my favorite things about being a Kit customer. Watch the video: Custom Websites vs. Template Buildouts.

πŸ‘‰ WHAT'S NEW WITH SQUARESPACE?

  • Circle Day speakers are announced! (I decided not to apply this year, so I could go and just enjoy the day, and am so excited to hear from everyone who'll be sharing.) See the lineup here, and yep, Will Myers is on there twice. I've been kidding him that one will be Will and one will be Robo-Will, so we'll see if we can spot the difference.
  • Sites now support LLMS.txt files, but none of the major players use this, so I wouldn't worry about it. There are other AI things rolling out, but honestly none of them are worth messing with yet in my opinion.
  • Annnnnd prices went up. Here's my take.

πŸ‘‰ WHAT'S NEW IN THE COMMUNITY?

  • Kate Scott is hosting Square Design Summit again this year (Aug 17–19th): a free, 3-day event for Squarespace designers who want to fall back in love with their design business. I’ll be speaking along with 29 other incredible speakers. Grab your free ticket here.
  • Later today, our friends at SquareKicker are launching something new. I got a sneak peek, and it's very cool. Watch the Launch event: Composing the future of Squarespace design
  • Looking for an events or calendar solution on Squarespace? Eventually Ticketing has officially launched, and I got to chat with the cofounder Kelsey about how folks are already using this to improve their websites. (Yes, even if you aren't selling tickets.) Watch it here.
  • Amy Goldmacher just released her latest book, Terms & Conditions. The terms & conditions you grew up with don’t have to determine the rest of your life.

πŸ‘‰ FUN & USEFUL THINGS

  • If you are a web designer, I've started Dear Christy, a Dear Abby-style advice column on YouTube. Watch the videos here and submit your questions.
  • Quick reminder that Teachery's lifetime deal of $550 is ending August 15, so if you are looking for a course platform (or think you might need one in the next few years) that has nice people building it and want to lock in lifetime pricing, I'd grab it now. I'll be moving over to it in the next few months.
  • I'm testing out Wisprflow for AI dictation and am super impressed. My phone never seems to know what I'm saying when I try speech-to-text, but Wisprflow is getting it exactly right.

Thanks for having me in your inbox!

Christy
