Hi Reader*,
I've been thinking a lot about the future of Squarespace. It's in this interesting middle ground: it's not as simple as some website builders, but it's often not complex enough on its own. Today I'll share some ways you can bend it to your will (pun intended, see below), then some other solutions that might be enough if you just need a very simple website.
Before we jump in, a quick reminder to sign up for the free Square Design Summit happening next week! You'll find everything from Squarespace tips and hacks to behind-the-scenes looks at how designers run their businesses.
And in the meantime, a heads up that Squarespace renamed their Beacon AI (aka Bacon AI) to Clarkson. I'm still not finding it helpful in any way, but hopefully ol' Clark will get better.

If you are a DIYer or a Designer and want to push Squarespace beyond its native limits, there are two tools I'd recommend:
- One has been around for a while and is my go-to when I build. It's Will Myers' toolkit that includes an AI Code Assistant, 100+ code snippets, and a Chrome extension — everything you need to build awesome Squarespace sites. (Get it... Will's Toolkit bends Squarespace to your "Will"? Come for the news, stay for the bad jokes.)
- The second just dropped from our friends at SquareKicker. It's called Compose, and it is incredible. You give it a prompt, and it basically takes it from there to add light, fully supported code to your site.
And if you're stuck because Squarespace feels too complicated and you just need a simple site?
- I love Carrd for one-page websites. So much so that I built a quick template for therapists (a niche I love) and will have one soon for virtual assistants. Check out my carrd site here. You can get a pro plan for $19 a YEAR. Yep, a year. If you'd be interested in some video tutorials on using Carrd, let me know. I'm debating whether these would be worthwhile.
- If you use Canva, did you know you can build a simple website there? Lots of limitations, but it will do in a pinch!
Are there any of these you want to learn more about? Reply and let me know!
Thanks for having me in your inbox!
